Root, Nourish & Grow: A Weekend of Deepening your Practice

From my last in-person retreat with Eva in Portland, ME

Join Anne Patrick, Eva Christopherson, and Ling Beisecker for a weekend virtual yoga retreat from the comfort of your home. When seasons change, we often see similar shifts in the qualities in nature that are also occurring in us. With its bright colors, cool temperatures, and shorter days, fall is a time to connect to the slow, warm, and grounding qualities. While the transition from summer into the back-to-school/back-to-work mode of fall can be hard, in this weekend of study we will use modalities of yoga, ayurveda, pranayama, and meditation to find tools that help us slow down and find quiet within.

Itinerary

Warming Yoga to Balance the Fall with Eva Christopherson

Saturday October 23 | 10am-12pm

As we shift into the fall, you may have begun to notice that as the earth becomes dryer and cooler, so do our bodies. According to Ayurveda, fall is governed by vata dosha, which is made up of the space and air elements. The qualities we experience are cold, dry and light. In this workshop we will learn how by adding in more grounding and warming practices to our yoga practice, we can balance these qualities.

We will begin with a discussion on what types of changes we see in the cooler months according to Ayurveda, why it is important to change our yoga practice with the seasons, and finish with an all levels yoga practice that evokes grounding poses that connect to the earth, fluidity and rhythm to connect to the water element, as well as build some heat to keep the internal fire toasty. Leave feeling well balanced, and with ideas on how to create an at home yoga practice that supports you during this transitional time of year.

Routine, Breath Work, and Meditation for Anxiety with Ling Beisecker

Saturday October 23 | 1-3pm

With the increased flow of space and air elements, fall is a time many people notice an uptick in anxiety. Dry throat, spaciness, forgetfulness, nervousness, and trouble breathing are some ways anxiety can manifest in your everyday life. Fall is also a time of holidays, going back to school, and increased demands. So much is pulling on us and changing.

In this workshop, we will learn a little about a lot. Emphasis will be placed on learning about yourself and what could work for you. We will start with a grounding mantra, learn about different types of routines based on your unique needs, and make space for an extended pranayama and meditation practice.

Find your Roots: A Workshop on the Muladhara (Root) Chakra with Anne Patrick

Sunday October 24 | 10am-12pm

In this 2 hour workshop you will be introduced to the concept of the chakra system and in particular the Muladhara (Root or Base) chakra. The goal of the workshop is to activate and balance Muladhara energy through philosophy, yoga asana and movement, meditation and breathwork.

The Sanskrit word chakra translates to a wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. When we work with Muladhara chakra we discuss the importance of feeling grounded in your physical world. We address issues including:
Personal safety and security
Sense of belonging to a group, family, or community
Fear and anxiety
Adrenal concerns such as burnout
Stability and feeling Grounded as you move through life’s changes

The goal of this workshop is to introduce you to the chakra system in a modern, western context with concrete tools to help you feel energised, grounded and present in your daily life.

This weekend of practice and study will be held virtually through Zoom. Sign up for the entire weekend or choose which workshop(s) fit your schedule!
